Range settings

Contents

A range includes several settings, such as zebra stripes, which are described here.

The settings for the child nodes are not covered in this section; they can be found in the articles for the respective node types.

    Range settings

The table below lists the range settings; all grid types share the same configurable options.

    SettingDescription
Full width textEnable this option to display the range question text across the full width. If disabled, the text will appear in the first column above the individual questions.
Column spaceCreate extra space between the columns.
Vertical column header alignmentColumns can be aligned when text spans multiple lines, ensuring proper layout even at lower resolutions.
Horizontal column header alignmentChild elements can be aligned horizontally depending on the available space.
Header background colourImprove question visibility by setting the background colour of the answer label row.
Zebra striped RangeImprove question visibility by alternating the background colour.
Separate questions by a lineImprove question visibility by drawing a line below the questions.
Display as a single page on a mobileBy default, range questions are split across multiple pages on low-resolution devices. Enable this option to display all questions on a single page instead.
Sticky column headersColumn headers stay fixed, unless the range text exceeds 25% of the viewport height, in which case they are disabled to keep the questions visible.
Shuffle questionsShuffle the questions to avoid biased answer selection. Enabling this toggle opens a list of questions in the range, from which certain questions can be excluded from shuffling.
Rename childerenOpens the ‘Rename children’ component to rename all the direct children.

    Question group grid

The settings for Question group nodes within a Range cannot be updated individually. Any changes to these settings must be made through the parent Range node.

    Categories

When the children of a range are closed questions (e.g., radio button or checkbox lists), all children must share the same category set. To enforce this, only the categories of the first child can be edited. Once updated, these categories are automatically applied to the remaining children.
